1. Establish a dedicated team

Your team must be committed to you and the company. Successful entrepreneurs are not only great at establishing relationships and doing business, but they also need to know the right people. A business idea alone is not enough. You need to be able to identify and find the right person to get together to turn your business concept into success.

2. Communicate

This is something that can not be underestimated. Although only with 5-10 staff, it will be very difficult to know what’s going on with them. In an effort to communicate, the whole team must feel that they are important in the team, and make them feel the momentum, even in difficult circumstances.

3. Do not assume

When you’re in a small business, you might assume that your team understands your purpose, as well as your company’s mission, and they may indeed understand it. But, everyone needs to be notified and reminded where the company is headed, and what will the company look like when it reaches its destination. It will be important to give that description to your team. Take the time to really understand the people who helped you build your business.

4. Be Authentic

Good leaders inculcate their personalities and beliefs into the organization’s foundation. If you try to be who you are, and be among those who support that value, then the business you run will be more successful.

5. Know your obstacles

Most entrepreneurs are very optimistic and confident in doing business to their goals. But, a leader also needs to know and understand their boundaries and barriers.

You need to know what you are up to, and you should be able to plan to overcome it. Plan carefully, because a business will hit many obstacles later on.

6. Form a team character

Often times, many teams are competing toward corporate goals without knowing their own identity. They do not know what and where they are going, and what will lead them. It is important to create an agreement on what the team should accomplish, why it matters and how it should work together to achieve the outcome. The whole thing will shape the team’s character.

7. Believe in your team

A good leader must help his team to build confidence, especially during difficult times. As Napoleon Bonaparte says, “the leader is the creator of hope.” The confidence will come naturally, as you trust your team. But trusting your team alone is not enough. You must help them to win.

8. Sharing ideas

Many entrepreneurs are too thoughtful and proud of their own ideas, and do not know how to distribute the idea. The entrepreneur forgot to set an example to his subordinates.

9. Keep your team together

A good leader gives his team a challenge and keeps his team excited about it. Even a small company can knock down a big company, just by winning a team and a leader. The ability to unite teams is not easy and is not owned by everyone. A good leader should be able to unite the team by getting to know each member of his team one by one personally.

10. Stay calm

An entrepreneur must be able to stop his team members from overreacting to a situation. Perhaps this is considered not so important now, but it will be important for the future. A company should consider external views and media views to the company. The resulting brand image can be severely affected by the reactions of people in your company in the face of difficult times and shocks.
